Ø  This Course aims to introduce certain key aspects of conceptual analysis in Political Theory. Students will understand the nature and importance of Political Theory.

Ø  Understand the elements of state and different concepts like liberty, equality, Justice and Rights.

Ø  Reflect upon some of the important debates in Political Theory.

Indian Govt. and Politics

Ø  The Paper will enable students in understanding the nature of Indian State.

Ø  The paper will develop in depth knowledge of the Indian Constitution and an awareness of Fundamental Rights and Directive principles of State Policy.

Ø  Show awareness of the party system in India and social movements of Farmers, Laborers and Women.

Comparative Govt. and Politics

Ø  After completing the course students will develop an understanding of theory and methods of comparative Govt. and Politics. They will be familiar with different models of political system and the way political dynamics have shaped societies from time to time. Students will understand the different types of electoral systems.

Introduction to International Relations

Ø  This course is designed to give students a sense of some important theoretical approaches to understand international relations. Students will learn about cold war and Post cold war and basic determinants of India’s Foreign Policy. The paper will develop in-depth knowledge on the emerging centers of power like European Union, Russia, China and Japan.

Ø  The course aims to study the Legislative Process in India and functioning of the different committees of Indian Parliament. The course elaborates the power and functions of people’s representative at different levels i.e. National, state and local level. The course also familiarizes students to the wide understanding of the budget process in India.

Public Opinion and Survey Research

Ø  This course trains the students to undertake research by familiarizing them with the basic tools and techniques of field studies. After completing the course the students will be able to design research projects and programmes in different areas of political science.

Themes in Comparative Political Theory

Ø  This Course aims to familiarize students with Western Political thought and Indian Political thought and the difference between the two. This paper provides a comprehensive understanding of the political theories and thoughts of western thinker like John Locke, J.S. Mill etc and the contribution of Indian Thinkers like kautilya, Tilak, Gandhi, Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar and Sardar Patel.

Democracy and Governance

Ø  The students will be able to get knowledge of the constitutional structure of democracy in India. This course demonstrates knowledge of the working of the democratic institutions of governance such as President, Parliament, Courts etc. The Students receives an insight into Liberalization and E-Governance.

Democratic Awareness Through Legal Literacy

Ø  The proposed course aims to acquaint students with the structure and manner of functioning of the legal system in India. This paper provides a comprehensive understanding of various important laws and rights of the Indian citizens and makes the students aware of the Courts, Police, Jails and the system of Criminal
